Kyoshi Steve commenced training in Goju Kai in 1986 under sensei Ian Hopkins.

He has trained extensively with Hanshi (Grand Master) Tino Ceberano, following the advancements in training methodology that separates the IGK from other schools.

In 1994 he began teaching Goju karate at Morayfield before moving the club to Deception Bay and now to Redcliffe.

In 2011 Kyoshi Steve was graded to 5th dan black belt by Hanshi Ceberano and in 2012 was awarded the title of Shihan, or master teacher.

Sempai Peter first began training in karate in the early 1970s.  He started out in Shukokai in 1971 before the club changed over to Renbukan.  In 1973 he graded to his 1st dan black belt in Renbukan and continued to train with them until 1977.

In 2007 Peter decided he wanted to get back into karate again and commenced training with, as he was then, Sensei Steve.  It was soon obvious that Peter still retained many of his skills even though it had been some 30 years since he last trained.  In 2012 Peter successfully graded to his 2nd dan black belt under Hanshi Tino Ceberano at the national training camp on the Gold Coast.
